Blade & Soul - Blood Raid (Yun Outfit) Mod

In this post, I have finally get to this mod that was requested almost one month ago. There had been several requests for Yun outfit mods before this request came along, and I need to juggle among the three races to share the love. 😰 But better late than never, so let us get into the Yun Blood Raid mod now.

From my previous post on Jin Blood Raid, you will probably know that this outfit is an event outfit that was released together with the Gunslinger launch. After all, this outfit is designed specifically with the Gunslinger class in mind and was even worn by one of the Gunslinger characters in the launching screen.

If we are to compare the Blood Raid outfit for all three races, they look exactly the same. The same blood red and shiny jacket with lots of straps, complete with a skirt of the same shiny red texture over a pair of black tights. Let's take a look at the original Yun outfit below so you can compare it to the Jin's version.

Front View - Original Outfit
How similar is it to the Jin's version?

Front Close-up View - Original Outfit
Wow! Straps.

Rear View - Original Outfit
Straps...

Rear Close-up View - Original Outfit
And more Straps. 😆

Side View - Original Outfit
We can also see the same symbol, glowing in between the straps, on the left arm.

For the mod, I had intended to do something similar to the Jin's mod, with the pants and mid torso section recolored to skin layer. The pants portion of the mod was done without problem. However, it seems that the jacket layer for the Yun's version is 'floating' too far above the skin layer. As such, attempting to recolor the mid torso portion to skin layer would result in a 'floating' skin layer, which will look weird. 😰

And so, I gave up on the attempt and turned my focus to the center of the torso including the cleavage region. I tried to do this same modification before on the Jin's mod but realized that it revealed too much and so had to thrash the idea.

On this second attempt, I tried trimming the overlapping textures in the center part of the jacket, instead of trying to totally remove them. I trimmed the texture to half its original width and it works! The top main layer and lower extension layer overlap perfectly without revealing discontinuity. Why didn't I think of that for the Jin's mod!  😧

Looks like the Yun race is destined to get a better cleavage view.  😝

For this portion of the mod to work, the zips will have to be removed else they will look as if they are floating. However, doing so reveals a small hole right at the bottom of the 'V' opening. 😑  So, I patch the hole as good as I could and even retain the 'floating' zippers (both zippers share the same texture so it is either both or none at all) to help hide it. But a small part of the hole is still present nevertheless. Guess I will have to live with it.  😰

Check out the mod below.

Front View - Modified Outfit
Ah! No more black pants. 😅

The center of the jacket has been trimmed and the zips removed. But that 'floating' zipper... 😰

So what do you think of this mod? And did you manage to spot the remnant hole?

Blade & Soul - Seductress/Temptress/Enchanting Seductress (Gon Outfit) Mod

After filling a string of requests for Jin and Yun outfit mods, finally one viewer asked for Gon. Since I have been mod-ding Yun and Jin outfits for the last few posts, I guess I should show some Gon love in this week's post.  😅

But comparing the number of requests for the three races, Gon significantly has less. Does this translates to the lower number of players having a Gon character? Or maybe because Gon always get the hottest outfits out of the three races? Well... I cannot be sure of that but I had occasionally seen players complaining about their Gon female characters having strange standing pose, causing them to look slightly deformed. Having played characters from each race, I do agree with their opinions. 😅 But then again, the virtual world of Blade & Soul is not of our human world, so certain level of ambiguity should be allowed, like the Lyn race.

Moreover, the designers of the game tried to give each race their own characteristics. While the Jin mimics the human race (except for their exaggerated hip size 😂 ), the Gon is given powerful features to engage players who likes their avatars to be strong and wild, and the Yun to attract players who likes their avatars to be more feminine and elegant. Unfortunately, the creators might have taken those unique qualities and applied them into the standing pose to a level that the characters look slightly deformed. 😓

For one, I have not heard of players complaining about their male characters being deformed. Maybe because male characters of each race are not given those exaggerated poses. 😆 Also, I contemplate that as human players, we like the characters to behave and match more closely to a real human, while at the same time achieving what we want in our avatar (i.e. stronger like a Gon or more elegant like a Yun).

So the developer may be better off having those over exaggerated poses corrected to look more human so as not to cause any deformation. After all, I think a normalized pose would be sufficient to convey the unique characteristics of the race, isn't it? 😅

Looks like I have gone off topic so let us turn our focus back to the mod.

In case you have forgotten, I had made a mod for the Enchanting Seductress outfit for Jin race before but I did not include the Seductress or Temptress outfits back then. So in this post, I will focus on the two main sister outfits and leave out the Enchanting series since these outfits look exactly the same on all races. Not to mention that I do not have the enchanting series...  😭

Since you can read all about where and how to get these outfits in the previous post, let us dive straight into the original Temptress and Seductress below. First up, the Temptress outfit.

Front View - Original Temptress Outfit
The main series are full black in color unlike the enchanting series which include stripes or spots. Also, we can see the nettings, that run from under the arm to the ankle, on the sides.

Front Close-up View - Original Temptress Outfit
The difference between the Seductress and Temptress is the arm guard and the leg straps.

Rear View - Original Temptress Outfit

Right Side Close-up View - Original Temptress Outfit
We can see the arm guard on the right arm for the Temptress.

Left Side Close-up View - Original Temptress Outfit
Let us now check out the original Seductress outfit below.

Hmm... Does that standing pose looks a little awkward?  😅

Front View - Original Seductress Outfit
Comparing to the Temptress, the Seductress outfit has two straps on the upper left thigh and tiny spikes below them.

Front Close-up View - Original Seductress Outfit

Rear View - Original Seductress Outfit
Also, the arm guard on the right arm is not present in the Seductress outfit.

Side View - Original Seductress Outfit
The reason why I can complete three outfits in such a short time is because the Seductress and Temptress outfits actually sit in the same texture files. So I actually mod-ed the Seductress and Temptress at one go. After finishing, I can simply duplicate it to the Enchanting Seductress since they have similar 3D models.

For the mods, I tried to apply the same concept from the Jin Enchanting Seductress. That is to turn the full body outfit into a swim suit style. 😅 However, not everything can be done the same because the Jin and Gon 3D models have some differences.

For the Gon model, the tummy area is significantly 'floating' above the skin layer and thus, I cannot re-paint that area into skin color like I did for the Jin. 😓

Let's take a look at the Seductress mod below.

Front View - Modified Seductress Outfit
The mod looks very similar to the Jin mod except for the tummy area, which is still covered due to the constraint that I mentioned earlier.

Front Close-up View - Modified Seductress Outfit

Rear Close-up View - Modified Seductress Outfit

Right Side View - Modified Seductress Outfit
Now, we can have the great view of the hip and leggy legs just like in the Jin mod 😍 .

Left Side Close-up View - Modified Seductress Outfit
If you had used the Jin mod, you would also notice that there is no tan lines on the Gon mod.  😆

Let's now compare to the modified Temptress below.

Front View - Modified Temptress Outfit
Looks similar to the Seductress but no leg straps.

Front Close-up View - Modified Temptress Outfit
The arm guard is still up on the right arm though.

Rear Close-up View - Modified Temptress Outfit

Left Side Close-up View - Modified Temptress Outfit

Right Side Close-up View - Modified Temptress Outfit
Eagle- eyed viewers may be able to notice the tiny spots, that float in front of the lower left leg, on the Seductress. That is an issue that I cannot figure out as of now, except knowing that they are artefacts left behind by the tiny spikes that I had removed. 😰

Well, with that we reach the end of this post. Catch the video below and keep an eye out for the next post.

Blade & Soul - Dark Path (Jin Outfit) Mod

From my list of requests, we have the Jin Dark Path in this week's mod. Previously, I have done a mod for the Yun Dark Path, and all the details of the origin and how to get the outfit are all included there. So for this post, I will not be going through them again.

Instead, let us go directly to look at the original Jin outfit below. It is exactly the same as the Yun's version, except the metal part of the bra, where the Yun's design is shiny and black, while the Jin's design is shiny white with imprints of chain net.

Front View - Original Outfit
Does it looks exactly the same?

Front Close-up View - Original Outfit
Similar to the Yun's version, the Jin's outfit has a chain net layer, which closely follows the skin layer, on the torso and arms.

Rear View - Original Outfit
Hmm... The same piece of cloth that runs down from the left shoulder.

Rear Close-up View - Original Outfit
And the collar that is made up of a bunch of black feathers.

Side View - Original Outfit
For the mod, I tried to duplicate the Yun's mod, where excessive chain net is removed from certain areas and the length of the dress trimmed. Although it is a duplication, it cannot be 'copy and paste' but have to be done from scratch, due to the difference in 3D model. 😓

How similar is the Jin mod when compared to the Yun mod? Check below.

Front View - Modified Outfit
First of all, we can see the trimmed dress.

Front Close-up View 1 - Modified Outfit
The chain net layer on the sides and arms are removed.

Front Close-up View 2 - Modified Outfit
I also did the same thing for the bra, where the lower part of the metallic bra is removed to reveal the chain layer below.

Oh! You can also notice the difference in the bra that I mentioned earlier when comparing it to the Yun's version.

Rear View - Modified Outfit
Some of the feathers on the collar are also removed like in the Yun's mod. Originally, the collar hides the entire head when we view from the back, but now it covers only half of it.

Side View - Modified Outfit
Did you manage to spot any other differences between the two mods?  😃

That's all for this post and the next one will be another request. So stay tune.

Blade & Soul - Red/Ivory Specter (Yun Outfit) Mod

In the last five posts, I have been filling mod requests by viewers and this post is yet another request.  😅  And there are still more on the list. Busy, busy, busy...  😵

As you can see from the title, we have the Red and Ivory Specter in one mod. Not because I have suddenly grown two more hands and can work on two mods simultaneously but because the two outfits actually share one package together with their other two sisters: Light Specter and Dark Specter. In such a case, it is easier to duplicate one mod to the other outfit since they share the same 3D model.

Check out the Specter sisters below.

Red Specter            Ivory Specter          Dark Specter         Light Specter
Since the Specters look exactly the same for Gon, Jin and Yun, I will only show the Gon version here.

The Specter outfits look much more similar to the Cheongsam costume than the Yun Twist of Fate that we have seen before. The main difference from a traditional Cheongsam is that the slits at the sides have different height, with the right slit significantly longer than the left.

Other than color difference, the Red and Ivory Specters use full piece of cloth while the Dark Specter has small holes littered throughout the bottom part of the outfit, giving a semi see-through effect if we look close enough. The Light Specter, on the other hand,  has holes on the yellow portion of the outfit.

The most prominent design of the Specters is the armor pieces on the right arm and right leg respectively. The armor pieces split the arm and leg in two, with a blazing ball of light connecting the top and bottom halves.  😲

The Red and Ivory Specters are exchanged, in Jadestone Village, using tokens gained from faction PvPvE (Blackram vs Bamboo Guards). That means putting on a Blackram outfit to defeat Bamboo Guards or vice versa, depending on which outfit you are after. However, the more exotic Light and Dark Specters can only be bought online from the Hongmoon Store.

Before getting to the mod, let's examine the original Red and Ivory Specters closer.

Front View - Original Outfit
Unlike the case of Twist of Fate, where the cloth fully follows the left leg and looking weird during movement, the Specters have their cloth 'cutting' into the leg. 😦

Well, I guess that's how much technology (collision detection and object property) can manage for now... At least until processing power takes a huge leap to be able to render real-life like physics, without busting our puny budget. 😓

Rear View - Original Outfit

Side View - Original Outfit
Comparing to the front view, we can see the right slit starts all the way up on the waist, while the left slit starts on the thigh. As such, we can see the panty string with a ribbon at the right side.  😅

Since the request is simply to sort out the cloth that 'cuts' into the skin, I mainly trimmed the cloth at the front for the mod. With the cloth at the front trimmed, the cloth at the back will also have to undergo the same treatment. In addition, I shifted the panty string up to the waist, in line with the start of the slit, so they will not mar the beautiful leg.  😆

The above paragraph probably sums up the entire mod, so let's look at the modified outfit below.

Front View - Modified Outfit
With the cloth trimmed, we see no more flesh cutting cloth. Unfortunately, the Specters lost the essence of the Cheongsam design. 😥

Front Close-up View - Modified Outfit
Instead of a flat ending, I made them crooked to fit the fiery nature of the outfit.

Rear Close-up View - Modified Outfit

Side View - Modified Outfit
The panty string and ribbon are no longer in view. 😅

This wraps up the mod for this week. Watch the video below for a clearer view.
