Blade & Soul - Decked Out (Gon/Jin) Outfit Mod

It has been three weeks since the last post and I can finally have enough time to get a mod and its accompanying video and post done. In this week's mod, we will see the two remaining versions of the Decked Out outfit for Gon and Jin. I have done the Yun Decked Out in the beginning of this year and a patron requested for the Jin and Gon versions just early this month. So let's get to it.

As seen in the Yun post, the Decked Out outfit has a Christmas vibe and is mostly cotton knitted. The cotton knitted red dress is worn over an inner black dress. The same goes for both the Gon and Jin versions since they all have the same appearance.

I personally do not own Decked Out on any of my characters since this outfit is not an in-game reward, and can only be bought using event token or from online Hongmoon store, when NCWest decides to do so. Therefore, I can only show them via the in-game Tailorshop. 😦 But the boon is that I can choose any head and face adornment to complement the outfit. 😅

Let's check out the original Gon and Jin Decked Out below, with Jin on the left side and Gon on the right side of the images.

Front View - Original Outfit
The cotton knitted red dress is split in the center front and back. A black inner dress can be seen beneath the red dress.

Front Close-up View - Original Outfit
The hat that I use here is the Laidback Headpiece and the glasses is the Blue Glasses. 😅

Rear View - Original Outfit

Rear Close-up View - Original Outfit
A hoodie is attached to the top back of the red dress.

Side View - Original Outfit
As we can see, the Gon and Jin versions are the same as the Yun version.

Side Close-up View - Original Outfit
For the mod, I wanted to be fair so I duplicated the Yun's mod over (actually, I might just be being lazy). 😅

First of all, I had the red dress trimmed to the thigh level. That also means that the length of the inner black dress has to be adjusted accordingly too.

Next, I trimmed the bra portion of the inner black dress lower and removed the two slings totally. Unfortunately, the star and crystal decorations attached to them have to go too.

Lastly, the bra portion of the red dress is 'cut off' or rather modified to a laced black layer to pass off as a part of the inner black dress. Somehow, the same 'cut out' on the Yun actually make a bigger hole on the Gon and Jin, so I had to cut less. 😅

The final result is as seen below, similarly with Jin on the left and Gon on the right.

Front View - Modified Outfit
As seen above, both the red cotton knit and inner black dress have been trimmed.

Front Close-up View - Modified Outfit
The slings and their decorations are also removed.

The 'cut out' can be seen more easily on the Gon version above.

Rear View - Modified Outfit

Rear Close-up View - Modified Outfit
With the removal of the crystal and star decoration, their duplications on the hoodie and shoes are gone too. 😰

Side View - Modified Outfit

Side Close-up View - Modified Outfit
With this, I can wrap up the Decked Out outfit for all three races.

Catch the video for a better look at the mod. But since I do not have the outfits, I can only capture them using the in-game Tailorshop. That limits how close I can get to the intended parts of the outfit so if you want to take a close look at the lace layer, you will need to have both the outfit and mod. 😥

Well, we have come to the end of this post. Hope to post another mod soon.

Blade & Soul - Black Ice (Gon Outfit) Mod

Following a one week lapse, I manage to find time for a mod and so, I decided to finish up on the request for Gon Black Ice outfit. This is one of the oldest outfit in game, and a same model is worn by Soha while she was visiting her brother Leerok in the Talus Dominion capitol - Zaiwei, when it was still under the influence of Dark Emissary Jinsoyun. The white-blue version in which Soha had worn is the sister outfit called White Night, while Black Ice is the black-orange version.

The outfit can be obtained by defeating the final boss - Asura in Sogun's Lament dungeon. Asura is the transformation of Prince Sogun, who was misled by the demoness Yura to preform the Heaven Mandate ritual.

Convinced by Yura that he should have been the Emperor, Sogun conducted the Heaven Mandate ritual which ended the Highland Metropolis in ruins and caused the death of his dear sister Princess Solan. Driven by guilt, the possessed Sogun took refuge in his secret palace which came to be known as Sogun's lament. Asura is the effect of internal battling between his possessed self and guilt stricken conscious, taking the form of fire element on one half of his body and ice element on the other half.

If you want to see what Sogun's madness did to Highland Metropolis, you can see it in the first part of this video. And if you like to know what a humanoid with his body half on fire and half on ice looks like, you can see him in the last part of this video after he has been defeated.

Sogun's Lament used to be a very challenging dungeon in the early days of the game, featuring three mech heavy bosses which required players' coordination to defeat. Nowadays, a moderately geared level sixty player can solo the dungeon. However, whether or not a player can get their hands on the outfit is still pretty much up to our beloved RNG goddess. 😆

As you can imagine, the very contradicting names of both Black Ice and White Night might have come from the very contradicting characteristic of Asura, whose body is half on fire and half on ice, and inner torment of guilt and tyranny.

As for appearance, Black Ice is one of the outfits that has different appearance for the three races as you can see in the image below.

Gon                                    Jin                                   Yun
The main differences lie on the chest and leg portions. While the Jin and Yun race wear a bikini top, Gon wear a zipped shirt. For the legs, Gon sports a pair of fishnet leggings, while Yun gets a translucent pair and Jin has none.

The rest of the outfit is quite similar, including a thick winter coat with furry white collar, a pair of long boots and a mini skirt with belt accessories.

Let's take a quick look at the original Gon Black Ice below.

Front View - Original Outfit
In the real world, a thick winter coat just does not go well with half of the body exposed, for obvious reason. However, in a martial arts world, where skilled characters are not afraid of cold at all, the coat is probably just for fashion sake. 😅

Front Close-up View - Original Outfit
The zipped shirt and fishnet legging can be seen in the image above.

Rear View - Original Outfit

Rear Close-up View - Original Outfit
The thick furry collar almost block the entire head when seen from the back.

Side View - Original Outfit

Side Close-up View - Original Outfit
Seeing how a Gon is physically more sturdy than a Jin or Yun, I figure they do not need  a shirt to actually protect them from the cold. After all, the Jin and Yun wear only a bikini top. 😅

As such, I tried to trim the shirt down to size. Unfortunately, the mesh structures of the breasts beneath the shirt and the sides of the abdomen are missing. In the end, I can only trim or open up the vertical center portion of the shirt, to give it a look similar to the Gon Infinite Challenge outfit. 😥

Next, I trimmed the coat to just end at the skirt level since the mesh structure for the back is missing, and finally took off the pair of fishnet leggings. Nothing can be done for the thick furry collar because the portion where the arms and shoulder connects is missing.

Let's check the final mod below.

Front View - Modified Outfit
As seen above, the pair of fishnet leggings has been removed.

Front Close-up View - Modified Outfit
The center portion of the shirt has been trimmed. Does it reminds you of the Infinite Challenge outfit? 😅

Rear View - Modified Outfit
The coat has been shortened to the skirt level.

Rear Close-up View - Modified Outfit
I did not trim the skirt because the belt accessory that is paired with it will be left dangling and looking weird.

Side View - Modified Outfit

Side Close-up View - Modified Outfit
I am reluctant to cut the coat any shorter because it will give a top heavy and bottom light feel due to the thickness of the coat and collar, like the Jin version below. However, a more important reason is that the Gon's back is missing from the top of the skirt up. 😰

We have come to the end of this post. Watch the video if you want to take a closer look at the mod.

Hope to post another mod soon!

Blade & Soul - Aurora (Gon/Jin Outfit) Mod

After recovering from the charger explosion (or rather smoking 😰 ) saga, I guess I will take things easy, for now, and thus decided to do an easier mod. Therefore, I will work on the Gon and Jin Aurora since they are quite easy, and the request was made three weeks ago, a day after I posted the Yun Aurora mod.

Since I already have the Yun mod template and the meshes for all three races are well lined up, it is easy to just copy the modified parts over from the Yun. What is left are the erasing of extra clothing and shading away of shadows.

With the details about the Aurora outfit posted in the previous Yun Aurora mod, there is nothing much to add on, except a question of why the Aurora is found in the Sandstorm Temple which is surrounded by a desolate desert. 😅

Seeing that the outfit has almost no relation to the natural phenomenon, I guess it might be meant to point to something else... like the other meaning of rise/dawn of something or even the Roman goddess of dawn.

The outfit's name does not seem to have much relation to a goddess either so I guess the remaining possibility would be the 'rise/dawn of something' part. Indeed, the outfit is a random drop from Rukesh who was obsessed with finding a new way to achieve transcendence. However, at his final discovery which should have been the dawn of his transcendence, it also marks his downfall when he fell under the devastating effect of the artifact. Picture again, the legless man that is bind to a headless genie. 😨

That might all have been just my willful guess but at least it has a link somehow. 😅

Let us take a look at the original outfit below, with Gon version on the left and Jin on the right.

Front View - Original Outfit
If we compare the Gon and Jin outfits to the Yun, we can be sure that they have the same appearance.

Front Close-up View - Original Outfit
The same goldish dress enhanced with metallic guards on the shoulders, forearms and legs.

Rear View - Original Outfit
The mantle and two goldish straps are also present for the Gon and Jin Aurora. But do not ask me whether the writings on the mantle are exactly the same because it is a language of the fantasy world of Blade & Soul. 😅

Rear Close-up View - Original Outfit

Side View - Original Outfit
We can also see the feathers between the shoulder guard and bracer.

Side Close-up View - Original Outfit
As mentioned earlier, I intended to replicate the Yun mod on both the Gon and Jin outfits. That means trimming the mantle to dress level, trimming the dress by a little, cutting the inverted 'V' shape into the sides and finally, removing the straps, that links the dress and leg guards, on the outer thighs.

Let us check the two mod versions below, similarly with Gon version on left side and Jin on the right.

Front View - Modified Outfit
As seen above, both dresses have been trimmed to end at the edge of the white line.

Front Close-up View - Modified Outfit
The chest areas are 'opened up' but it is less obvious on the Gon version due to inherent difference in body shape.

Rear View - Modified Outfit

Rear Close-up View - Modified Outfit
The mantles on both outfits have been trimmed until slightly above the edge of the dress.

Side View - Modified Outfit

Side Close-up View - Modified Outfit
The two side images above show the inverted 'V' cut into the sides of both outfits and the straps on the outer thighs are no longer present.

With this, Aurora for all three races have been completed. You can watch the video to take a better look at the mods.

Since I do not have the outfit on my Gon or Jin, and the outfit is individually bind, I can only create the video with the help of in-game Tailshop. The scene is also set in the Silverfrost Mountains map but in a warmer and greener landscape of Evergreen village.

Blade & Soul - Scarlet Empire (Gon Outfit) Mod

With the recent NA server patch on 19 June, a new raid - Scarlet Conservatory a.k.a. Temple of Succession has been released. And with new raid, comes new outfits (hmm.. this sounds like a certain uncle Ben 😅 ). The Scarlet Empire is the outfit dropped by the final boss - Scarlet Empress Tayhu in this new raid. And yet, I have already seen players with this outfit with the full accessories, which means they have beaten the final boss several times. 😲

That it why I am so surprise when a patron asked for this mod. But then again, he/she might be from other regions, where this patch has already been introduced. ðŸ˜†

Just for some information about the outfit, the Scarlet Empire is worn by Dowager Tayhu, who rules over the Stratus Empire in the absence of an Emperor. It is rumored that she is a divine being who had descended from the Divine Realm to bless the Stratus Empire. However, the truth is that she is in league with the forces of darkness and the one who schemed the assassination of Empress Namsolyn so as the secure her daughter Namsoyoo (or rather her blood), in order to perform the Heaven Mandate ritual.

In addition, she might also have been the culprit that insinuated Prince Sobu to perform the Heaven Mandate ritual that eventually caused his life. On the hand, Mushin's accomplice - Yura also tricked Prince Sogan to perform the same ritual that destroyed him and his sister. And thus, securing the throne for Tayhu's own son - Sobin, who is not of royal bloodline.

It was revealed in the storyline, from the not so distant past, that Tayhu is actually another lackey of Mushin, who is intent on acquiring divine powers to rule over all three realms.

The overall design of the Scarlet Empire is very much oriental (except for the pair of sleeves and leggings) with golden dragon embroidered and a full golden dragon wrapped around the waist. In ancient China history, the golden dragon is the representation of the one and only true Emperor. Anyone who dared to have them embroidered into their clothing could be executed for plotting to usurp the throne. 😨

If the Stratus Empire is modelled after ancient China imperial structure, Dowager Tayhu is basically openly declaring that she is the Emperor. But then, it may not have been modelled after ancient China imperial structure, so the golden dragon would loose its meaning. But interestingly, there is also a Dowager in China history by the name of Cixi who took power, for forty-seven years, after the death of the Emperor. Her action of attending court sessions, from behind a thin veil of curtain, where the Emperor listen and give orders to his subjects pertaining to national/political issues, even give rise to an idiom.

Another earlier example, from ancient China history, would be Empress Wu. But in her case, she had actually ascended the throne, to become the Emperor herself.

Wow! That is a lot of unrelated information. Now, let us return to the outfit. 😆

While the overall design is closer to oriental style, the pair of leggings and sleeves are definitely not so. The pair of sleeves looks much more of western design from 1800s colonial era and oriental style does not adopt leggings.

Front View - Original Outfit
The scarlet part of the outfit's name is clearly represented by the red-yellow color theme. The empire part would be the golden dragon and the fact that it is worn by the Dowager.

Front Close-up View - Original Outfit
The golden dragon can be seen wrapped around the waist, like a belt.

Rear View - Original Outfit
The lower part of the outfit is just a pair of red panties, covered in the front and back by two pieces of cloth, and the pair of dark leggings.

Rear Close-up View - Original Outfit

Side View - Original Outfit
The sides of the outfit gives a full view of the legs.

Side Close-up View - Original Outfit
The Scarlet Empire looks really beautiful but I guess some players may not like the two pieces of cloth dangling at the front and back. As such, I intended to trim both of them, but just trimming them is dull. So, I added lace patterns, which are also quite oriental like, on both.

Next, I recolored the pair of leggings into a translucent layer which reflects colors between red and orange.

Finally, I looked at the chest torso and found that the mesh structure around the breasts are quite smooth, so I recolored the area to skin. Although the area do not fully follow the breasts' curvature, it still looks acceptable.

Unfortunately, I found the back's mesh structure is ragged and cannot be recolored to skin, without causing it to look strange, so I have to leave it as cloth.

Let's take a look at the modified Scarlet Empire below.

Front View - Modified Outfit
Notice the front cloth has been trimmed to minimal length, just enough to block the red panties from the front view. 😅

The pair of leggings is now translucent instead of opaque, reflecting red color at knee level and orange at ankle level.

Front Close-up View - Modified Outfit
The part of the red clothing covering the under boobs have been modified to skin color, which looks like it has been taken off.

Rear View - Modified Outfit

Rear Close-up View - Modified Outfit
The red colored cloth at the back has also been trimmed and laced.

Side View - Modified Outfit
From the side view, we can see the transition from skin to red cloth just below the strap because the back has ragged surface and thus, unsuitable to be recolored to skin.

Side Close-up View - Modified Outfit
Hmm.. Should I leave the translucent leggings or turn it into skin...

This brings us to the end of this post. You can get a better look at the mod in the video which I have captured using the in-game Tailorshop again... Because my characters are not in a powerful clan that can beat the new raid boss yet. 😥
