Blade & Soul - Jiangshi Raiment (Jin Outfit) Mod

This week, we will skip over a Yun and proceed with the Jin Jiangshi Raiment mod. If you find the term "Jiangshi" familiar, it is because I have done the other Jiangshi outfit - Profane Shroud in previous posts. Jiangshi is actually a direct translation from the Chinese name (僵尸), meaning stiff corpse. It is the general name for the blood sucking vampire equivalent in Chinese mythology. If you want to learn more about the Jiangshi, you can read about it in my Jin Profane Shroud mod post.

In my previous post, I have described about the Profane Shroud outfit and how it can be obtained from the field boss Profane Jiangshi. The Jiangshi Raiment can be obtained in a similar way and it might be the very first outfit that players can get by spinning a Wheel of Fate. That is, if the player starts from level 1 in the Bamboo Village starting area in the Viridian Coast map. The Wheel of Fate for the Jiangshi Raiment is located in the next following area of Foshi Pyres, which is a spooky area littered with graves, tombstones and wandering Jiangshi.

The token needed to spin the wheel can be obtained by defeating the field boss Stalker Jiangshi. The Stalker Jiangshi is a creation of the infamous necromancer Nekuro and spawns periodically from an unearthed grave just next to the camp. When compared to Profane Jiangshi, the Stalker Jiangshi is seen to be wearing similar outfit but slightly smaller in size, much slimmer and does not have a huge mouth in the stomach. Unlike the other Jiangshi, the Stalker Jiangshi walks around like a normal humanoid, instead of hopping on both legs with perpendicularly raised hands. Nevertheless, the two huge claws will rip apart anyone who dares steps in its way. 😱

Check out the Stalker Jiangshi below.

The outfit comes with a hat much like the one the Jiangshi is wearing and a talisman to paste on the character's forehead. The outfit itself looks kind of scary with its torn-up and messy feel.

The main colors are black, red and grey with yellow talismans hanging around the body. For the Jin version, the outfit covers the whole body except for the cleavage region. Let's take a look below.

Front View - Original Outfit
A full body outfit with only the cleavage region as skin layer.

Front Close-up View - Original Outfit
The color scheme is very similar to the Stalker Jiangshi's outfit but luckily, the trumpet sleeves was not copied over. 😅

We can see the first charm hanging near the abdomen.

Rear View - Original Outfit
The tail cloth is made up of scale and cloth. The red torn-up cloth can be seen on the lower left side of the tail cloth. The rest of the tail cloth is mostly rigid scale-like structure.

Rear Close-up View - Original Outfit
The back region is mostly made up of a red spine structure, a little similar to that of the Profane Shroud.

We can see a long talisman hanging around the waist level.

The final talisman can be seen hanging on the outer right thigh.

The arms have a scaly look that covers the entire arm right up to the fingertips.

In the mod request, the viewer ask for the latex surface (which I supposed are those scaly surfaces) to be modified to skin and to remove the fur collar.

As seen from the images above, the latex or scale fully covers both arms and legs, and also the abdomen portion of the torso. Since I cannot modify the sharp fingernails into normal ones, I have to keep the latex layer on the hand to act as a pair of gloves. And because the shoes are directly 'linked' to the legs, I decided to turn the layer into a pair of red colored boots.

So, let's get to the mod already.

Front View - Modified Outfit
We can see the latex layers on the arms and legs have been replaced with skin layer. The remaining latex surface forms the red colored boots and white colored glove.

The abdomen region is also skin layer now.

And since there are plenty of torn-up look on this outfit, I also gave the glove a torn look.

Rear View - Modified Outfit
The tail cloth has been trimmed and modified to mostly cloth. Unfortunately, I cannot change the physics of the cloth so it still act like a rigid scale surface. 😥

You can probably see this more in the video where the tail cloth mostly follow the legs' movement instead of fluttering freely like a normal cloth.

Rear Close-up View - Modified Outfit
The collar has been removed as requested but the shoulder area now looks something more like a combat armor. The hood probably conceals this weakness.

Side Close-up View - Modified Outfit
I left the talismans and upper torso untouched because they seem fine to me.

That's the end of this post. Check out the video for the eerie scenes from the area where the outfit originates and a brighter scene where you can get a better look at the modified outfit.
