Blade & Soul - Pugilist (Gon Outfit) Mod

It is time for a Gon mod again and in this week's post, we have the Pugilist outfit. This is the first of several Gon mod requests which I received within a week or two, so I should proceed with it first.

The Pugilist, as the name suggests, is an outfit associated with an arena. However, this arena is not the one where players pit their skills against each other but rather, like a mini team fighting ring within the Yes Man Playpen. The Playpen is a solo dungeon in the Scorching Sands region on the Cinderlands map and the outfit can randomly drop off the warden boss.

The player will visit this dungeon as part of the story to rescue a NPC and in the process, selectively rescue several other prisoners to gather a team to face off the Playpen's warden and his lackeys. Similar to the fate of all old dungeons, most players will just bypass The Playpen unless they are seriously farming for the outfit.

And if the term Yes Man sounds funny to you, that is because they are known to be an organization of misfits by NPCs in game. All Yes Man would wore an outfit decorated with torn and shell, as if mimicking a shellfish. Although the name and outfit seems funny, the Yes Man led by one of the most powerful in-game female character - Juwol (you can read more about Juwol in this video's description), is a force to be reckoned with in the Cinderlands.

You can check out this video for a cutscene introducing the Yes Man and their leader Juwol.

Now, let us view the original outfit below.

Front View - Original Outfit
The wooden leg guard with metal spikes is pretty unique.

Rear View - Original Outfit
Somehow, that anchor looks kind of out of place because most of the Cinderlands is a dry desert. However, that was not so a thousand years ago where it had host a shipping port.

Rear Close-up View - Original Outfit
The pair of torn shorts, and leather top and gloves does suit the desert environment.

Right Side Close-up View - Original Outfit
A rope can be seen hanging on the right side of the waist.

Overall, do you think the outfit seems more closely related to a sea port that an arena? 😆

In the request, the viewer asked for the armor pieces and anchor to be removed. Fortunately, the mesh below these armor pieces exist and can be recolored to remove the shadows.

I had also intended to trim the pair of shorts but the mesh of the entire crotch region is missing so I have to abandon the idea. The pair of gloves cannot be repainted to skin due to folds and bumps on the surface.

So, how does the outfit look with all the armor pieces removed? Check below.

Front View - Modified Outfit
As seen above, the wooden leg guard has been removed.

Rear View - Modified Outfit
So is the anchor that was hanging at the back.

Left Side View - Modified Outfit
The metallic parts on the left thigh is also gone.

Left Side Close-up View - Modified Outfit
The crest on the left arm has been removed.

I kept the rope because it would look really plain otherwise.

Do you agree that the Pugilist looks more like a mountaineer or rock climber outfit with all the armor pieces removed? But of course, no one will go climb a mountain in high heels. 😅

With this video, I shall wrap up the post. Since it is the Pugilist outfit, I figure I will capture the video in the Tower of Infinity where players pit their skills against NPC. Be sure to catch the cat scratches and spinning hammer. 😆
